Happenings

So, it's been a while since I last wrote. I wish I could say that sooooooooooo much has happened since then, but alas, I would be lying if I did. With that said, here is what's been going on in our neck of the woods.

Thanks to federal holidays like Memorial Day, I got a day off of work on that weekend, but that wasn't enough, so I decided to take one more day off and go on a mini vacation with Josh. We went to Utah to visit some friends. It was so much fun! We did close to nothing, but it was so refreshing. We stayed with my best friend, Shalee and her husband Rex. They were amazing hosts. The husbands got along great, which, I'll be honest, was something I was a little worried about. Kudos boys! Shalee gave me some great cooking tips and inspiration, and since we've been back, Josh and I have eaten out much less. I've actually cooked a little! (I'm hearing applause in my head for self approval.) Josh experienced a poker revival in himself, but he and others noticed and change in his strategy. The old Josh would be daring and bet it all on hands like "7-2 off suit," and somehow manage to win just by bluffing everyone out. But the old Josh played much more conservatively, throwing hands away like "queen-10 suited" when he felt he was beaten. Our friend Dallin was flabbergasted by this change, and for some reason, he blamed me. hehe

While Josh experienced a poker revival, I went through a friendship revival with Shalee. It was so much fun to just sit a the couch and talk about things from old friends to recipes to church stuff to plans for children. It felt like old times. Thank you Shays for your amazing friendship and sisterhood! And thanks to Rex and Josh for stepping aside for a weekend to let us have girl time! :-) Here are a couple of pics.

Me, with our friends Jeremy and Shalee. This is what we drove through on our way back. We would see rain and these amazing cumulus clouds, and then, every once in a while and window of light would open. The beauty of the contrast between light and dark clouds is so majestic to me. Oh, and we even saw a bolt of lightning! I don't think I've seen lightning in CA ever in the three years I've been here. Crazy!
