Must See!

So, Josh and I saw a truly awesome movie yesterday. It is called Iron Man. I hadn't heard much about it until yesterday, on the radio, dj's kept talking about it and how hugely well it did at the box office over last weekend. I knew the main character was played by Robert Downey, Jr. who I absolutely think is a fantastic actor, so I thought, "what the heck. It'll be a fun theater movie at the very least." So, I convinced Josh to go see it with me...which was like pulling teeth at first b/c he gets very picky about which movies are theater worthy. Actually, he relies on the comments posted on Fandango.com the most, so when he saw that it was a must-see, he said, "All right, Amy. I'm in." Thank you to all of you movie nerds who have an opinion to post on Fandango!
Anyway, we get to the theater for the 3:15 PM showing, and there was practically nobody there. I love virtually empty theaters. I can do as much boisterous laughing and nit-picking as I want, and not feel bad about interrupting someone else's movie experience. Laughing, I did lots of. Nit-picking, none. This movie was awesome. It had non-stop action; the script was witty and well written; the story covered all bases; the cast was amazing! RD, Jr. is incredibly nonchalant and likable as the overindulgent, rich ladies' man who turns almost humanitarian like after a near death experience in the Middle East. Gwenyth Paltrow plays his faithful assistant, and I must admit, I did not picture her playing this kind of role- a role that has her playing a submissive, obedient character. Usually, she plays roles that have her be this liberating, outspoken woman, aka Shakespeare In Love, Emma, there are others, but I can't think of the names right now. Back to Iron Man, it was directed by Jon Favreau who, for all you Swingers fans, played the lead in that movie. He did a great job. I could see, with the type of humor in the movie, how he and RD, Jr. could have meshed well.
In summary, this movie had it all for me, great story, great characters, great action. It is a must-see in my book. Theater worthy in Josh's book.
